Innovation of the Revolutionary PowerCube

Roti, kapda, makan, these three things were the basic need for life. Isn’t it? Yes,
but not now…

In this Generation of technology, our life is heavily depended on Gadgets which relies upon
on electrical power.

PowerCube, due to its amazing & overwhelming design is the innovation to carry your power solution anywhere without being embarrassed.

Allocacoc, a Netherland based company Introduces PowerCube, a Cubic Design having functions of 5 multiple sockets or 4 sockets and USB, one of its kind, who has won accolades worldwide and have won huge appreciation.

PowerCube is the answer to your ever-pressing issue of bulky plugs blocking its neighboring socket outlets. If you haven’t used one yet, you are missing out on the millennial solution. A smartly designed cube with a power strip that enables consumers to use all its socket outlets. PowerCube turned 6 this year and is now available in more than 83 countries globally! In this article we will take you through the journey of PowerCube from the initial to the final stages.

How the millennial idea was born

In today’s day and age, it has almost become standard that most of us are more dependent on our gadgets than on fellow humans. The most common problem faced by us all is the issue of multiple power points for our various tech gadgets.

Yixia and Arthur, the founders of Allocacoc were industrial design graduates who wanted to come up with a design which would solve a major problem for an aggravated portion of the globe! It was during this phase that they too faced the basic problem that came with bulky plugs which are included with the regular power strips. Thus, the founders focused to change this #worldclassproblem and started with their initial designs.

The need for a better sustainable design for a power strip was felt by the industrial designers. Although the space between socket outlets would solve the issue, however, the rectangular shape of it, would not make it compact or aesthetically pleasing. Hence, they came up with the cube shape. This would make it compact as well as visually enticing.

Plugs never block!

The initial challenge was to design a core which would enable all the outlets at the same time within a compact cube. The next step was to incorporate USB components in the cube. Electronic devices which doesn’t include USB port in today’s time is almost obsolete, hence the need to have a power strip which would enable devices to be directly charged from USB-port was felt.

Over the years, although the core design remains intact, the additional parts have been re-designed and assimilated. The changes were made keeping in mind more efficiency, functionality and need for different nations. The core of the PowerCube is an engineering marvel, allowing 4-5 pins in such a tight space. Post multiple tests and renders, the designers also created a unique docking unit to hold the PowerCube in any flat surface

Inside the PowerCube

The PowerCube has four core parts:

·  a front cover with either a socket OR two USB ports,
·  a casing,
·  a back cover with either a socket OR an extension cable
·  a core.

To maximize optimal efficiency during the production of the PowerCube, there are 2 parallel running assembly lines. The 1st line takes care of pre-assembly of all core parts and laser printing the logo on the casing. These then undergo an accelerated life testing before passing onto the next production stage. The 2nd line is responsible for assembling the core parts together. Put simply, slide in the core into the casing, put on the front cover and back cover with screws, and voilà; you have a functional PowerCube — Arthur Limpens, co-founder. Finally, there is quality control, where the Cubes are re-tested before entering the packaging process. Proper packaged PowerCubes are then boarded on cargo ships to be delivered globally!
